Absurdity

People in need won't be suddenly okay with 1 hamper, and they need support year round. It's great that there are so many making hampers in the holiday season, but they can make those hampers last for longer if they get more. So many just see it as they only need help during the holidays, but dealing with food security for a few weeks just means they will be struggling again in January, and they should not be penalized for trying to secure food for longer or asking multiple sources, because you never know if you will be declined or not. It is for need not greed.

Hampers are not a solution, they are not a cure. We are looking at treating the symptoms instead of the disease, we are ignoring preventative measures and focus too much on trying to make it look better, big piles of food look great in photos but are gone in a few weeks with something substantial done to actually help keep people out of poverty or deal with the income gap as the rich continue to suck more and more out of our society.
