Because it isn't about money to them really, it's about the mentality, they would rather have 100 people go without then one person go with who didn't deserve it. Versus people who would rather help 100 people even if 1 person doesn't qualify, at least they are being helped.
Reminder this is a group for people to ask questions and get help in. Telling someone to "just google it" is not conductive to the community we are building. And an aside when googling it says "Easter Monday might affect these hours" so they are asking to be sure because the word might is not an absolute.
Listen and engage with the community continuously.
I'm an introvert, I'm shy. I'm quiet, I listen. I challenge myself constantly to break out of that shell though because I know I do good. I want to keep challenging myself to do good. I don't think it's a big secret. Those who know me know how quiet I can be in person, but then we start talking about certain subjects and I won't shut up.
It means people are more active, that we are building and running cities for people and not cars. It means when there is an accident the chances are better that there will be no or less harm. Because life isn't about just going places, but getting there and enjoying it.
Cars are a disgusting luxury that are destroying our cities and community. Think Steve would move to where he is without a car. No corner stores, no family stores, no grocery stores in walking distance. But it's okay cause can drive everywhere. Contributes to sprawl and erodes our sense of community as we aren't neighbours anymore but so far apart.
I think the idea that we shouldn't discuss politics has really widened the divide among us. We should be able to talk about major topics among friends and family, the idea should be we should be able to do so civilly, without resorting to relying only on insults or logical fallacies to make our arguments.
Government is necessary. It is what creates a fair, just, and equitable society. It provides services to the people within that society that should be universal such as healthcare, fire, police. I'd argue more services should be provided that are necessary for a better quality of life such as guaranteed food and shelter. The more a government provides its people the more equitable a society is. The more government holds everyone accountable to the same standards the more just a society is. It is about caring and compassion for our fellow citizens and people. Empathy should be taught in school so people can understand the role a government should provide. It should not be there just to command and keep the people in line, but allow a fair amount of freedom that increases quality of life, wellness, and happiness.
All needs for life in our society should be provided, water, housing, food, electricity, internet/phone service. Be provided or run as a government service or utility. Not just for them to survive, but to thrive. Education. Conservatives don't invest, they don't build and right now we need a strong government investment in building Canadian companies and manufacturing. The government should care for its people and strive to improve their quality of life.
I think I am obsessed with my children having the same positive experiences I did as a kid, all the things I loved or enjoyed or think back on and none of the negative. Want them to consume so much of the same media I did, video games, shows, books, but overwhelmed because I did that over years and can't do it all at once. As well there is all this new stuff I want to do with them too.
There is no need to be a devil's advocate, sometimes it's okay for people in a room to agree with each other. You are either trolling or an asshole when you are arguing for or defending terrible positions. It's okay to say something is horrible and without defence. Justice without due process is not justice. Justice occurs in the court of law, not public opinion.
