Absurdity

Prime Ministers: 2026-05-15

Chretien I felt was a bad ass, didn't take shit from anyone, got things done, even if didn't agree with it all. Also I'd add ranking them 1-4 doesn't mean much, like Chretien I'd rank an 8 of 10, the rest would be around 4-5, all almost tying for second.

Trudeau I felt was charismatic on the world stage, and a great world leader. I kind of wish we had a president and PM like some countries do, one for the world stage, one to act on domestic issues, what is great at the international level, may not be so good domestically. Trudeau was good for us on the world stage but domestically he didn't pay enough attention and let us continue to erode as a strong unified country. He could have taken strong stances against misinformation like he did his last month in office.

Carney is smart, intelligent, and the kind of person we need to mirror Trump, he will be great for the economy, but already see him sacrificing the environment for more money. There is a reason conservatives feel comfortable coming to his party now, it's not all Pierre hate and being muffled by him. We haven't seen enough of him as PM though to give him a final ranking.

Harper I'd put last because he cut a lot of services, science labs, increased debt when he said he would do the opposite. We could keep our services we have now and stop the deficit just by taxing the rich, but Harper cut taxes (government revenue) as the deficit grew, and cut services without getting anything out of it. I get not wanting to have high taxes, but keep the taxes until the debt is gone. Cut services/spending, but then show us some results from that. To say these cuts are necessary but then still run in the red, then cut the revenue stream makes no sense. I did like the switch to community mail boxes, seemed more efficient and I grew up with them, it wasn't a big deal to switch, save money, but then instead of using that saved money to tackle the budget he just cuts taxes for votes getting us nowhere.

Note this is written for a Facebook group so a bit toned down.
