Absurdity

Note this is an old Facebook post, likely made right after the con last year,

Well thank you for another great con, everyone who worked hard to put it together, volunteered, and put so much time and effort to make this what it has become, not just the weeks leading up to the event but all year promoting the con, planning, and making sure it all comes together. It is my second year back after too long of a hiatus, and it has been quite different with children. This year has been a bit easier for us as our oldest is now 12, so we had a bit more freedom and were able to split up or do things together. This year we had a room and the kids did focus a lot on the pool. I remember the Radisson enjoying the pool a lot, but also the suites, and it was hard to get them away from the pool. They had birthday parties to go to as well so we were in and out a bit and I had the Elmwood Unity Walk to run still. Missed some things I wanted to do like the Buffy sing-a-long as the kids wanted cuddles for the night, but they enjoyed Dr. Horrible. They had a blast dancing with their different styles and takes on how to dance. Kids also really enjoyed the video game room and the old school games. Board games were great, but was also nice to be adults for a bit and childfree for Sunday night.

We had some great hallway talks, and it is easy to get nostalgic for past cons, but I think it's good to remember every con is different and can't have it all, there are reasons things have changed over the years and to enjoy it for what it is. WAC room also has something interesting playing, and nice to watch shows that may not otherwise catch my attention, Wolf Children for example was pretty cool IMO, loved how they kids transformed so easily back and forth when other shows tend to show it as an arduous task.

I am really looking forward to next year, lucky number 42!
