Jury Duty: 2026-01-19
I would love to be on jury duty and do my civic duty. That said I don't believe in our justice system, there is not enough emphasis on rehabilitation and criminals sentenced are more likely to re offend than if they were not to be sentenced. I don't see the inherent good in such a system designed more to punish than to make them productive members of society again, and I don't think in good conscience I could sentence someone to prison.I know I've done stuff I could have gotten arrested for, smoking pot before it was legal, if everything lined up badly, and I think sometimes the only reason I didn't turn out like that was the officer let me go instead of taking me in, they didn't find I had more weed on me, they were in a good mood that day. Doesn't mean I'd commit future crimes, but I strongly feel that if I went to prison I would likely have gotten into the wrong crown, especially at that young impressionable age.
I also know about jury nullification.
Government should not be petty, they should take the high road and lead the way with decency, professionalism, official language that removes bias as much as possible, stick to facts not opinions. Should hold themselves with some kind of decorum and class. Government should be stately.
Feed the kids. No child should be hungry and government should step in with services to equalize quality of life for all Canadians.
