Chapter 2: Jump? Fly?

The man looked at the other man, skeptically, not wanting to really believe what was just just, but sure enough the man repeated himself.

"You can do it, you can fly!"

"I just don't think I can."

"Of course you can, it's not even that hard to do, you just have to jump."

The man nervously looks over the ledge. He stares down the 62 stories of the office building. He thinks about the little he knows about the other man, and how risky this whole proposition actually is.

"Are you absolutely sure about this?"

"I'm positive."

"I still don't know, how can you be so certain I'll really fly? What if I do fall?"

"You won't."

The man thinks back to the park, when he first met this stranger who has brought him up here today, to possibly fly?

"This is going to work, for sure, you really have no doubts that if I jump over off this building I can fly?"

"None whatsoever. Look I don't really care if you jump or not, but may I remind you that you agreed to this. I can always get someone else, your loss. I like you though, and I would really like to see you fly right now."

"It's not that I don't trust you, it's just I don't know how you can be so certain I can fly. What if, believing I can really fly, fully confident, you are wrong, and I actually can't?"

"You are just going to have to take my word for that, but I know you can do it. Just jump."

"Promise me that I can fly? That this is actually possible?"

"I promise."

With a deep breath inward, he takes a few steps back, and then with only a second thought of his beloved wife, he jumps over the ledge.
